an undisappointing action flick, thanks mostly to the hilarity of pegg and the minor intrigue of the double-agent femme fatale, who, as wifey pointed out, didn't really do much with hunt. what i did appreciate, though, were the operatic snippets and unsubtle invocations of casablanca. read

Its politics are some of the most disastrous and incoherent that I have ever seen in a movie, and it's about nine times longer than it should be, but it has a real functional craft to the setpieces, and I had a good time on that level.
It is an era of High Standards with the Movies. read

last week in canada all day everyday movies were pretty much half price. i had a friend who hadn't seen this movie yet and wanted to so it was the perfect opportunity to see it again (i loved it the first time). this time it was pretty much as good as i remembered/thought the first time. it did drop one percent in my rating scale though but rather than talk about the actual movie i wanted to have a brief discussion on the imax vs regular theatre theatre going experience. i saw this the first time in imax and the second time regular. what a difference. first, to state the obvious, imax is so... read

best of the sequels by far. a more balanced take on the impossibly indestructible hunt and his team/allies, having hunt be not just more likely to fail, but also less cocky to start with (the scene where benji, the comic relief character, echoes the peppy, blind trust that the previous movies built, while ethan is wary is central, but not overemphasized), his team more integral - helped by the continuity, at least - and finally, finally having a female character that actually acts as an agent - and has the screen time to do it. the franchise has sure come a long way from the foul mission read

the franchise challenge - mission impossible essential 2010s movies rogue nation: i have to say im loving rewatching these films. rogue nation is another step up from ghost protocol. adding the syndicate story with sean harris as solomon land is amazing. hes by far the best adversary to hunt so far. also brining ferguson in as elsa frost brings a certain quality to the franchise. these films just keep getting better. and i loved the ending - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️&1/2 read

desperate times, desperate measures ~ ethan hunt those desperate measures turn out to be a hell of a lot of fun, though. ethan hunt and his team return for this installment of this series, whose story is just a variation on the same story that they tell every time. but, this film knows where the heart of this franchise is: in the heist and espionage set pieces. the film series has a history of great ones, from the langley sequence in the first one to the underwater sequence in this one. with a completely different style, each film is able to create a lot of suspense, while still creating a... read

in small font: mission: impossible in large font: run, crash, repeat i kid, the mission: impossible franchise could never hit a marketing snag like edge of tomorrow. so long as ethan hunt has to do some impossible stuff, run a lot, and the theme music is there- mission: impossible is what we call "a sure thing". it's funny to think that before 2006, mission: impossible only had two movies to its name- one was good, the other was trash. now it's 2017 and there's basically a whole new trilogy of m:i movies- with each entry being a slick and entertaining spy romp. rogue nation isn't as read

omia etujaan ajavalla, ex-agenteista koostuvalla, ryhmällä on pahat mielessä. tomppa lähtee heittää kapuloita rattaisiin omin päin. tuttua ja turvallista, megalomaanista, toimintaa. jeesuspitkä, pakettia olisi voinut tikistää lyhyemmäksikin juonen kärsimättä. read

Almost 50 years after its first airing (and nearly 20 years after Tom Cruise first played IMF agent Ethan Hunt), Bruce Geller's post-007 spy saga is alive and kicking stronger than ever. Directly following up the events told in Episode IV, convoluted plot has newcomer Baldwin playing a CIA executive bound to dismantle IMF while Cruise and his team try and fight off a criminal organization. Slightly more down-to-earth than the previous installment, M: I- 5 nevertheless has it share of groundbreaking stunts, with the mandatory showstopper taking place in a flooded circular security chamber. read
