the ronin-like life of a former mp. makes me wonder what life would've been like under the employ of a military contractor. jack should just reach for the major as his shield. read more

while not as good as the first film, never go back is still a fun little punch em up that never stops to entertain. it's action and thrills from the get go and it never lets up. maybe i liked this more because i think tom cruise rocks? maybe i was swayed by his charismatic presence and his drive to entertain? maybe i enjoyed his interplay with the ass kicking cobie smulders? maybe i liked this just because it was fun? and that's all it wants to be: fun. it's not the most original film in terms of story and in reality it is a story you have seem a thousand times before but it's slick, paced... read more

quick hit: tom cruise is one of the preeminent action hero of his generation and constantly proven he hasn't lost a step. cobie smulders is a badass who can carry her own in the genre. and combined, they come heartbreakingly close to making reacher: never go back a memorable film. the two actors have great chemistry and are great in their roles, but they can't save a dull, plodding script. plots about government contractors never seem to play well and despite the herculean efforts of the various plot convolutions, it doesn't play well here either. edward zwick is fine if unremarkable... read more
