film #5 of hoop-tober 2.0 mother of tears is dario argento's the godfather part iii. by that i mean both that it is (of course) the concluding chapter of a great trilogy, but also that it is a big let-down in comparison to the previous two. and that was to be expected to a degree; suspiria and inferno are horror classics and the bar was impossibly high for the story of mater lachrimarum's rise. but there's also something legitimately wrong with mother of tears. to put it simply, argento's ambition dwarfed what he could do with the budget he had. the visual effects in this film are read more

There's a good story here, but it's buried under bad writing and acting. Especially Asia Argento is horrible here. People in horror movies usually make stupid decisions, but Sarah tops them all. Not a single brain cell was used. Luckily the gore is really good. That's why I never open my boss's mail read more
