i don't know what i get out of this film. i've seen it three times, and never particularly enjoyed it. then i bought it. why? i dunno. nevertheless, credit where credit is due. takashi miike's signature visuals and vividly colorful aesthetics are on full display here. ichi the killer is a gorgeous movie in its own way. it's like a dirty, in-your-face, pop-punk music video that never lets up. i'm definitely not averse to weird miike™ as i did genuinely enjoy both visitor q and gozu, but i feel like ichi the killer lands somewhere outside my scale of enjoyment. all of miike's films test me in... read more

I waited far too long to watch this honestly. I really liked it. It was over the top and just a lot of fun. The blood and gore were just nonsense and everything about the film was pretty much like that. Just overall super good and easily one of my favorites now! read more
