another flick i watched for veteran's day, this one was the original suicide squad. like the director's other films, i think this one is a bit long and indulgent. it's a really interesting movie though, that essentially is an ideological battle between different parts of the us military. i knew a guy who had grown up the biggest military nut you could imagine... joined rotc, took apart and cleaned his own guns, subscribed to soldier of fortune magazine, could identify the sounds of different plane engines! he joined the marine corps and couldn't stand it. he said that their whole mission... read more

well this was a product of its time that aged poorly. no matter how hard you try, you just can not sympathize with any character of the movie by today standards and i don't know if it is fair or not, i keep in mind this is a eeuu movie of the sixties. and that is the problem with this movie. you can not forget that through all of the two and a half hours it takes. read more

It's a cliche movie due to its imitators. This was the blueprint for a lot of movies and TV like the A-team. A classic must see in a historical film kind of way. read more
