Witching & Bitching

a gory, funny, wild ride, as promised and better directed than such movies can be (i especially liked some of the shots in the corridor chase). i really liked it... until it went for that ending. with an excellent start and a very unsubtle portrayal of gender conflict and gender roles, it is not all that surprising that it went to hell - though less literally than the witches (women?) would have wanted. still, in itself, would have been a fun, though conventional, resolution. obviously, a movie that draws such literal conflict between genders can't really end it in many ways and i wasn't read more

Small time bank robbers on the run end up in witch village and have to fight for their lives. Hilarious, violent and provocatively mysoginistic romp starts with a bang with uproarious robbery scene and keeps going louder and more outrageous as it goes on. Some of the fun does wear out after a while of relentless action but De La Iglesia confirms his flair for bending genres to his own personal voice. read more
